BOLLYWOOD PICS

Hollywood inspires Bollywood always

E-mail

Masterpieces are always an outcome of inspiration. For instances like an artist paints a scenery by getting inspired from the nature, a student inspired with a famed danseuse  tries to imitate his/her performance. These examples portray an effort to bring something unique, something different to a larger sect of people who might be unaware of the original. In similar case, there are many outstanding creations, impressive works or well acclaimed films that are famous yet unknown to some.

There are N numbers of films in Hindi that are recreated from the English works. The reason can be anything – lack of ideas, to introduce audience to a winning story, trying to be innovative, to create an impression or hype or just to put it straight, trying to copy.

Few of the Hindi remakes are instant hit but sometimes (or most of the time) the attempts just go in vain.

Some of the worthy remakes to name a few are 'Krrish' (Paycheck), 'Rang De Basanti '(All My Sons), 'Dhoom' (The Fast and the Furious & Ocean’s 11), 'Agni Sakshi' and 'Daraar' (Sleeping with the Enemy), 'Sholay' (Once Upon A Time in The West). While there movies which suffered badly at the box offices – 'Kartoos'(Point of No Return), 'Kucch To Hai' (I Know What you did Last Summer), 'Kaante'(Reservoir Dogs) and many more – and proved waste of all the hard work that went behind the remake.

Upcoming projects that are said to be inspired from Hollywood are – 'Agyaat', 'Paa', 'Pyaar Impossible', 'Action Replay' whereas Bollywood’s bigwig film makers David Dhawan, Karan Johar and Abbas-Mustan have said to bring out Hindi versions of the original works.

Good or bad, the B-world movie makers are always on look out to entertain the audience and it is up to the public to accept it or ignore it. Subjects are inexhaustible and sources are in abundance – so what goes if some things are just repeated, as long as people are made to forget their real life for sometime.
